August 2008
• President’s Message

 Dear Coronada Community:
If you’ve been getting your mail at your mailbox lately, you’ve probably seen the signs on David Sebring’s progress. The great news is that he returned to work on Tuesday, August 5, 2008! We are so happy to see him return to work! Welcome back, David! If you are moved to contribute and did not have a chance or if you want to add to your previous donation, it’s appreciated. David was out on unpaid leave for seven days before his
disability insurance kicked in, which covers him at 66%. Just put your donation in an envelope with “David” on the front and place it in the Coronada fee box.
This is the first newsletter since the Sundowner party, which was anything but “down.” There were several new neighbors who sauntered over, several more who hovered over the food table and both beverages and conversation flowed freely. “ Whoo-hoo!” to the Social Crew for planning and consumption!
In order of least controversial, someone brought the issue about grills up and the board committed to researching it. Metro Fire had some definitive decisions about grills. As of May, 2008, no grills:
“For other than one or two family dwellings, no hibachi, gas-fired grill, charcoal grill or other similar devices used for cooking, heating, or any other purpose, shall be used or kindled on any balcony (deck), or on any overhanging portion or within ten feet of any structure. Listed electrical ranges, grills, or similar electrical apparatus shall be permitted”.
It goes on to state that you can’t store them on your balcony (deck) either (if that sounds over the top, their intention was that for the management to know everyone complied, the eyeball check was simple and effective)
.
This isn’t a rule that will go away as it is the Metro Fire Prevention Code and has been adopted by Davidson County. Feel free to grumble, but then drag your grill off the balcony/deck or out from under the overhang and check to see you made the 10 foot rule. When I finish this letter, I’ll need to move mine.
Finally, we have three board openings and the board will vote August 26th on those vacancies. Once the new members are in place, we have a Treasurer spot to fill. Is there an accountant/finance soul who is willing to serve? See you all at the mailbox, in the pool or at the next meeting.
Cyndi Tierney, CCA Board President
BOARD MEETINGS
7:00 p.m., CCA Clubhouse • February – November
*** 4th Tuesday of Each Month ***

Thank you!

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of you for your cards, calls and gifts during my three week absence from Coronada. It is great to be back to a place that I dearly love among people that I care a great deal about. Thanks to you all. Sincerely,
David
Thanks to all of you for being good neighbors!

Keep an eye on vehicles that come into the complex that don’t usually belong here and watch for stragglers who just walk through. Coronada has been a very safe place to live and we want to keep it that way. With all of us working together, we can make Coronada the best place to live in Nashville.

Check for Mosquitoes:

Standing water is a breeding area for mosquitoes. Check around your condo and see if you have any standing or running water (fountains, etc.) and either empty the water or place a
mosquito tablet in the water to kill unwanted mosquitoes.
